Marcel Brands must urge Carlo Ancelotti to unleash Joshua King far more than he ever fielded Cenk Tosun, after Everton signed the AFC Bournemouth striker on Deadline Day.

According to talkSPORT presenter Alex Crook, King’s last-ditch move to Merseyside saw the Toffees agree to sign the Cherries forward on an initial six-month contract.

Everton will have an option to extend the Norwegian’s time at Goodison Park at the end of the season, with the transfer potentially worth up to £5m.

The Blues paid Bournemouth a nominal sum to finalise a deal in the final hours of Deadline Day, after the Vitality Stadium outfit sought to secure a fee for a striker who was set to be out of contract when his £45,000-per-week deal expired in the summer.

King will provide Ancelotti with vital cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Everton after Tosun was allowed to re-join Besiktas on loan until the end of the season, having failed to secure a regular starting berth under a succession of managers.

Reports by Norwegian television channel TV2 had claimed King decided to join Everton over Fulham after Bournemouth accepted offers from both Premier League sides, but the Blues first had to offload Tosun and his wages to afford the £10m-rated beast.

King is yet to score a league goal in a heavily disrupted campaign for the 29-year-old, having sustained a thigh injury in pre-season before later testing positive for coronavirus and missing almost two months.

Ancelotti must trust King

King found his eye for the goal in the FA Cup with a brace against Oldham Athletic and a solo strike in the fourth round against Crawley Town last month, while providing assists in each tie. Showing that he has not lost his edge in front of the net, which saw the Manchester United product score 48 Premier League goals with Bournemouth over five seasons.

Everton’s Director of Football Brands must now urge Ancelotti to place his backing in the 51-cap Norway international, having seen the Italian only field Tosun for 43 minutes in the top-flight this term.

Brands has put his faith into King offering Ancelotti a greater attacking threat than Tosun could ever bring to the table, with the Turkey international only scoring nine Premier League goals since January 2018.

The Dutchman has also struck what could prove to be a masterstroke by including clauses that will allow Everton to sign King to a long-term contract in the summer, without having to pay the £15m Bournemouth were allegedly wanting for the versatile forward who their former head coach Eddie Howe lauded as the “complete package”.

But that will prove worthless if King does not feature, despite having the potential to offer the goals form the bench that could secure the Toffees European football, which Ancelotti did not previously have.

Everton have not seen a substitute score a single goal in the Premier League all season, an unwanted stat which only goal-shy duo Burnley and West Bromwich Albion can also lay claim to.

If 11-goal striker Calvert-Lewin has not found the net, the Toffees also struggle, with the Blues only scoring seven in their last seven games, running back to when the 23-year-old last scored.

King does not have to do much to offer more of a threat than Tosun but if he’s to get the goals the Merseyside outfit have been lacking, Ancelotti will have to back him.

– Fico feliz pela instauração, pelo início do trabalho pela moralização do futebol – disse Derly ao LANCE!, que lamentou o fato de o partido dele não ter cadeira na CPI:

– Lamento, mas não podemos desviar o foco. Temos que investigar a máfia do futebol. Não quis citar entidades quando protocolei porque o foco é o todo. Podemos trabalhar em prol do crescimento do futebol.

A CPI terá 27 membros titulares e outros 27 suplentes. Os partidos vão fazer as indicações dos deputados.

Leeds United will look to right the wrongs from their latest outing in the Premier League. They were handed a 4-2 defeat by Arsenal last weekend – despite their second half spurt of energy, Marcelo Bielsa’s men couldn’t dig deep enough to counteract the home side’s emphatic performance.

Focus shifts to tonight’s match against Wolves as the Whites ready up to travel to Molineux for their next challenge. Bielsa has provided some positive updates regarding two of his senior personnel, confirming in his latest press conference that both Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich are match fit.

With the huge boost that Llorente has finally returned from injury, he could start tonight alongside Liam Cooper. Due to an injury-stricken squad, Bielsa has been forced to deploy Luke Ayling in a more central position to cater for the lack of centre-backs. But the £18m-rated summer recruit could once again kickstart his debut Leeds season with a solid performance in defence tonight.

Amid mounting exit links, Ezgjan Alioski continues to disappoint in white. He was replaced by 20-year-old Niall Huggins after 53 minutes against Arsenal. The youngster put in a very promising performance, completing 88% accurate passes to Alioski’s 70% and losing possession just three times compared to his senior’s 13, according to Sofascore.

His cameo against the Gunners was Huggins’ debut appearance for Leeds and now he has had a taste, he will be hungry for more. Bielsa could take a punt by starting him in defence tonight and seeing how he fares with a full 90 minutes under his belt.

In the engine room, things will likely remain unchanged. Pascal Struijk has been solid operating in the No.6 role in absence of Kalvin Phillips and the boss won’t want to upset this rhythm. Leeds need as much firepower to protect their goal as they can get – Wolves’ attack is firing from all cylinders despite the absence of Raul Jimenez and Bielsa will not want to come away without a positive result tonight.

Jack Harrison and Raphinha will as always support Patrick Bamford in attack, hoping to really give the home side’s backline something to cry about.

أكد ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد ظهير ليفربول إن تواجد زميله المصري محمد صلاح في المركز السابع في الكرة الذهبية لهذا العام، هو أمر مفاجئ.

وكان محمد صلاح ضمن المرشحين الثلاثين للحصول على جائزة الكرة الذهبية، كأفضل لاعب في العالم للعام الحالي، 2021.

وتواجد محمد صلاح في النهاية في المركز السابع في الجائزة، والتي فاز بها النجم الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي للمرة السابعة في تاريخه.

وقال ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “telegraphindia” العالمية: “هناك دائمًا مفاجآت في هذا النوع من الجوائز”.

وأضاف: “إنه لاعب رائع وكان في حالة رائعة العام الماضي ومنذ أن وصل إلى الأنفيلد”.

وواصل: “ليس لدي أي تفسير لسبب احتلاله المركز السابع، لكنني متأكد من أن دافعه مثل العديد من دوافعنا هو أن يكون في أعلى القائمة العام المقبل”.

وعن الشراكة بينه وبين محمد صلاح، قال أرنولد: “أحصل على المزيد من الحرية في الناحية اليمنى، على مدى السنوات الأربع الماضية كنت دائمًا هناك أنا ومحمد صلاح، لقد تغير لاعبو خط الوسط الأيمن وتناوبوا، لكننا كنا دائمًا هناك”.

واستكمل: “أعتقد أن هناك تفاهمًا بين المثلث الأيمن لمعرفة أن الهجوم، عبارة عن التوغل والصناعة، التوغل والهجوم، التوغل وصناعة الأهداف، كل هذا يضر بالخصم، وهذا ما نحاول القيام به”.

If you were to field Sunderland star Luke O’Nien in goal, he’d probably do a job for you.

Of course, that seems a farfetched notion but for the former Wycombe man, it doesn’t seem to matter where you play him.

O’Nien has become an ever-reliable performer for the Black Cats and already this term, he has played in four different roles. He is a central midfielder by trade but at the Stadium of Light has traditionally been preferred either at right-back or further forward on the right-wing.

That being said, he has now made a name for himself at centre-back. For someone who stands at just 5 ft 8, you perhaps wouldn’t associate him being adept in that role.

Yet, in two successive games now O’Nien has kept a clean sheet in that position. He looked comfortable in a three-back during the win over Burton but his display in the 2-0 victory over Fleetwood on Tuesday evening was even more impressive.

With Bailey Wright, Tom Flanagan and Jordan Willis all out, he arguably stole the show while playing alongside Dion Sanderson in a four-man defence.

O’Nien has always been strong in the tackle but he showed other qualities this week, standing out and reigning supreme in the air.

Aiden O’Brien and Max Power may have scored the goals but it was arguably O’Nien who laid the platform. The 26-year-old was excellent at the back and swept up well in a convincing defensive outing.

In total, the defender won six aerial duels, a tally that bettered every single player on the field of play. It also bettered his season average of three aerial battles won per match.

It was a dominating performance, one that saw O’Nien make six clearances in a no-nonsense display. Once again, that was the highest number of anyone to take the field of play on Tuesday evening.

The midfielder has already spent a period out with a dislocated shoulder but the team have clearly been better since his return to the side. He’s only lost one league game following his layoff.

Clearly, he is key to whether Lee Johnson’s men achieve promotion or not. O’Nien typifies both professionalism and versatility; he is a pleasure to have in the squad and acts as an example to others.

Diferentemente do atacante do Campinense, o Alvinegro ainda não discutiu valores com o Coritiba ou sequer decidiu se abrirá negociações pelo meia. No entanto, a reunião serviu para saber sobre a vontade do atleta e suas condições.
