Manchester United reached the semi-finals of the Europa League with a 4-0 aggregate victory against Granada at Old Trafford on Thursday.

In the end, the Red Devils’ 2-0 victory in Spain last week was more than enough to guide them through, with Edinson Cavani then adding to that advantage in the first half last night before Jesus Vallejo put through his own net late on.

Whilst the Uruguayan proved to be the match-winner for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on the night, it was actually a thoroughly disciplined defensive performance from right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka which made it a relatively worry-free evening for Manchester United.

With Granada needing a handful of goals to progress at the Red Devils’ expense, the former Crystal Palace man proved a formidable wall for the Spaniards to get beyond.

According to WhoScored, Wan-Bissaka produced an impressive five tackles throughout the game. Only Paul Pogba, who was substituted at the break, matched that figure of all the players to take to the pitch.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old, who earns £90,000 per week at Old Trafford, also contributed two interceptions and a further two clearances as he continued to keep Granada at bay. His impressive performance did not end there, as Wan-Bissaka won eight of the 13 duels for which he competed, he won eight, only being beaten in the air once according to SofaScore.

Whilst the right-back’s normal assignment is to keep the ball out of the Manchester United net, he was also hugely effective going forwards. Throughout the game, the defender supplied one key pass and also completed two dribbles.

In all, it was a hugely impressive all-round display from Wan-Bissaka, even more so considering that was in a Red Devils’ defence which was missing the likes of first-choice pair Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw due to suspension.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should certainly be thrilled with the 23-year-old’s performance.

O Flamengo vai enfrentar o Corinthians neste domingo em uma Maracanã lotado, já que todos os ingressos foram vendidos. Além de marcar a volta do Rubro-Negro ao estádio, a partida também será a realização de um sonho de Alex Muralha. O goleiro contou que sempre desejou jogar pelo Flamengo no Macara lotado em um clássico.

– O meu primeiro sonho era jogar no Flamengo e se concretizou. O segundo era jogar no Maracanã pelo Flamengo em dia de clássico de domingo e está perto de acontecer. A ansiedade é grande, meu pai é muito Flamengo e está querendo ver de perto. Então, é uma alegria muito grande. É uma semana de preparação forte porque estamos rumo ao título, e vamos trabalhar para que tudo termine bem no domingo – revelou o goleiro.

Muralha vive a expectativa de jogar pela primeira vez com a camisa do Flamengo no estádio. Segundo ele, atuar pelo rubro-negro sempre dá um frio na barriga e essa sensação será ainda maior porque o Maracanã estará lotado.

– Todo jogo do Flamengo dá um frio na barriga. E se tratando de Maracanã, com casa cheia, dá um pouco mais. É um clube de muita tradição. Então, a gente tem que se concentrar para fazer um grande jogo. Vamos em busca do título. Ainda tem 21 pontos e vamos seguir lutando – disse o goleiro, dando a receita para que essa ansiedade não atrapalhe dentro de campo.

– Precisa ter calma nessa hora. Todo jogo do Flamengo é normal sentir pressão. É um clube de muita tradição. Mas temos que manter a calma e fazer por merecer a vitória no domingo.

Muralha também brincou com a grande procura por ingressos para o jogo deste domingo. Os bilhetes esgotaram rapidamente. O goleiro disse que até ele ainda está procurando entradas para seus familiares.

– Sinceramente também estou atrás de ingresso. Sabe como é, família grande, todo mundo feliz com o momento… Tem muita gente sem ingresso ainda (risos). Tomara que eu consiga. Estou na luta – contou Muralha, dizendo que vai tentar conseguir com algum companheiro do clube.

Charlton Athletic bolstered their promotion hopes with an emphatic victory over Plymouth Argyle earlier this week, with the three points moving the side up into the playoff zone.

It also stretched their unbeaten run to ten games, which could prove to be a game-changer when the post-season swings around as they are proving to be undefeatable right now.

And Nigel Adkins deserves plenty of credit as he has continued that run of form despite taking over from Lee Bowyer last month.

On Tuesday night, he made a bold call to axe – or rest – one of his star performers, Ryan Inniss and evidently, it paid dividends as they kept a clean sheet on their way to a storming 6-0 victory.

Having signed in the summer, the 25-year-old has endured a campaign blighted by injury and after missing 27 straight league games, including Adkins’ first match in charge against AFC Wimbledon.

But he stepped in to keep a clean sheet against Doncaster Rovers, looked just as solid against promotion rivals Sunderland and Ipswich struggled to score past him, too.

Therefore to drop him in midweek was certainly a major call to make with him rounding back into form himself.

Speaking after clinching the 6 foot 5 titan in the summer, Bowyer waxed lyrical about his ability to the club’s official website, he said:

“It has been difficult as there are not many right-footed centre-halves out there but we have managed to get a very good one. Ryan is a winner, it is important when you have players like that at the back, and he’s a leader, an organiser and in that centre-half position that is what we were looking for.”

As per WhoScored ratings, the 25-year-old colossus (7.33) is only second to Jayden Stockley (7.48) and is also proving to be a huge aerial threat in this side, again ranking behind the target man striker (9.8) for aerial duels won (6.8) this term.

In his place, Adkins opted for Norwich City loanee Akin Famewo and he delivered alongside skipper Jason Pearce.

The 22-year-old gem was graded amongst the Addicks’ star performers with a 7.6 rating, better than the rest of the backline and only bettered by the goalscoring Stockley.

Famewo was a commanding presence, recording a game-high three blocks, putting his body on the line to deny Argyle a goal despite his side romping to an easy victory.

Whilst the young defender also put in four clearances and two interceptions, on top of winning 100% of his battles in the air, as per SofaScore.

The decision to rest Inniss for Famewo certainly turned out to be a blinding call from Adkins, and that’ll be good to know should the former Palace graduate pick up another injury or if further rotation is needed.

وواصل: “اللعب للأهلي أو الزمالك شرف لأي لاعب ولكن حلمي الاعتزال في أوروبا، لا أريد أن أعود للدوري المصري في أواخر مشواري فأتعرض للانتقاد والهجوم”.

وأتم: “أريد الاعتزال في أوروبا ثم العمل في مجال التدريب وأخطط في الفترة الحالية أن أحصل على الرخصة التدريبية”.

Se Levir Culpi mantiver a palavra e não fizer muitas alterações na equipe titular do Fluminense, que enfrenta nesta sexta-feira o Vitória no Maracanã, o Tricolor entrará em campo com mais da metade do time pendurado com dois cartões amarelos. São eles: Henrique, Richarlison, Wellington, Scarpa, Cícero e Pierre.

Se receberem advertência nesta sexta-feira, os jogadores ficarão fora do jogo contra o Cruzeiro no Mineirão, pela 34ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. O confronto com o clube de Belo Horizonte será no dia 6 de novembro.

As maiores preocupações do técnico são Henrique e Gustavo Scarpa. O defensor é titular do miolo da zaga ao lado de Gum e a única opção no banco é Nogueira. Scarpa é o principal responsável pela armação e também o artilheiro do Fluminense no Campeonato Brasileiro, com 8 gols.

Southampton have struggled immensely with injuries so far this campaign and the latest setback to Danny Ings is yet another frustrating blow for Ralph Hasenhuttl as we approach the culmination of the Premier League season.

The 28-year-old striker was forced off injured in the 2-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek having scored earlier in the game, with Southampton collapsing after his substitution.

Although he hasn’t reached the heights of last season, when he finished joint-second top scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals, he is still the top scorer for the Saints so far this term, with 10 goals to his name in the top flight.

His 6.89/10 average WhoScored rating also sees him ranked as the Saints’ joint-fifth best performer in the Premier League this season, so it is clear to see how important he is to Hasenhuttl’s side.

After the match, the manager confirmed he didn’t know the full extent of Ings’ injury, but the fact that he was holding his hamstring/groin as he limped off suggests that the 28-year-old could miss a significant portion of Southampton’s remaining Premier League programme.

Although the Saints are currently nine points clear of 18th-placed Fulham, having also played a game less, the absence of Ings could leave Hasenhuttl fearing the worst this season, as their awful form in 2021 would certainly mark them out as relegation candidates if it were not for the similarly terrible performances from Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham this season.

Last season saw Ings earn huge praise for his performances, with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe particularly complimentary of the striker, saying: “The most impressive thing about Danny is, of course, he’s an outstanding player.”

Given that Southampton have really struggled to score goals at times this season, losing a player who can turn a game on its head such as Ings, evidenced by his superb display in the 3-2 comeback win against Burnley recently, is a huge blow for Hasenhuttl, and he will be desperately hoping that the Saints can do enough to stay up this season without him.
