Graeme Hick, one of the greatest batting enigmas in England’s history, has been called up to sort out the mindsets of young Australia batsmen increasingly wedded to Twenty20 cricket.Hick will not have time to influence the Ashes series – Australia, despite being in a state of turmoil, plan to announce their squad on Wednesday, even though the opening Test at Trent Bridge will still be 12 weeks away.But Australia’s decision to call up Hick to teach their batsmen how to play long innings reflects their uncertainty about how to deal with the influence of a T20 format that promises quick rewards and instant fame.Nobody loved batting more than Hick. He only scored six Test hundreds for England in 65 Tests – none against Australia in 10 attempts and was pilloried by the English media during an international career that was viewed as largely unfulfilled.But he made 136 hundreds in 25 years at first-class level when his batting often seemed inexorable. It was those qualities which has persuaded Troy Cooley, the head coach at Australia’s centre of excellence and Stuart Law, the high performance coach, to summon him to Brisbane from his home nearby on the Gold Coast.”In the first-class system here there was only one person who had scored two hundreds in Sheffield Shield cricket by mid-January, not including the guys that played in the Test matches,” Hick told the . “That’s unheard of, and when I spoke to Stuey Law and Troy Cooley (that was something they identified. Having put together some biggish scores in my time, they thought I could pass on some of my methods.”Hick will work with some of the younger players in Australia’s set-up from mid-May onwards. “It’s a unique system in that players can go from Grade cricket to Test cricket very quickly,” he said. “The way the Australia team is at the moment I would think that a lot of these younger guys will feel they have a real chance of making it into the side in the next 18 months or so.”Hick’s 405 for Worcestershire against Somerset in 1988 remains one of the most remarkable batting feats in England’s first-class history – only exceeded twice in the country – but he has not been used in any capacity since his retirement. Australia are out to prove that his knowledge is worth tapping.

وأضاف: “ملامح الكابتن محمود الخطيب رئيس النادي الأهلي كانت واضحة، وهي رسالة للاعبين بمدى تحملهم المسئولية، كما أن وجود حسام غالي رئيسا للبعثة أمر إيجابي”.

وواصل: “أتوقع أن الأهلي سيفوز على الوداد بهدف نظيف، ولدي ثقة كبيرة في قدرات اللاعبين على تحقيق المكسب في المغرب، وخط دفاع المارد الأحمر حاليا مميز للغاية مع عودة محمد الشناوي”.

Even as his opening partner Dwayne Smith struggled to score at a run-a-ball, Tendulkar knocked off 48 off 28 at a strike rate of 171.42 to help set his team on their way to 170.Till the Knight Riders game, Tendulkar had been striking it at a rather sedate rate (after the game, his season’s strike rate stands at 125.13). However, he has looked to be aggressive whenever he has got in, Tendulkar said. “If you look at the whole season, whenever I’ve batted, I’ve not been able to spend much time in the middle. But whenever I’ve batted, I think it has been pretty aggressively,” he said after the match. “Every day you can’t go out and find the middle of the bat. This [Wankhede pitch] is the kind of surface where there’s a bit of help too upfront for the seamers, and so when you’re striking the ball well, you should be aggressive and make the most of it.”Today was one of those days when I was striking the ball well and I thought that if I’m striking the ball well, I should be the one who is more aggressive.”He has been enjoying his time in the IPL, Tendulkar said, and “sharing” with his Mumbai Indians team-mates. “I’m enjoying, I’m in love with this game. The passion for the game is very much there, so whatever time I get on the field I make the most of it.”It’s all about give and take [with team-mates]. Australia international Trent Copeland tore through Worcestershire’s batting to put Northamptonshire on the brink of victory after two days.Northamptonshire were bowled out for 314 during the afternoon, giving the Division Two leaders a first innings lead of 118, with Steven Crook hammering 85 off as many balls including three huge sixes. Copeland, who is playing his last match before returning home, then took three wickets for 26 as Worcestershire subsided to 97 for 6 at the close, still 21 runs behind.The hosts began the day on 100 for 4, 96 runs behind their opponents, with Rob Keogh resuming on 26 and Andrew Hall beginning his innings. But Hall was only able to make 10 before Gareth Andrew took a good low catch at third slip to give Alan Richardson his fourth wicket in the seventh over of the day.Keogh was to move on to 44 but was denied a maiden half-century in first-class cricket when he edged Andrew to Moeen Ali at first slip to leave the hosts on 134 for 6.Crook was then given a massive let-off on 6 when he launched Andrew into the air only for Aneesh Kapil to drop a straightforward catch at deep square leg. He was to make Kapil pay for that blunder by blasting a half-century off just 52 balls as he and James Middlebrook added 96 between them for the seventh wicket.The partnership was eventually broken when Middlebrook was sharply caught and bowled by Ali to depart for 39 in the third over after lunch. Crook finally perished when his middle stump was taken out by Chris Russell before Copeland smashed the same bowler to Jack Shantry at mid-on after clattering 31.Russell then ended the hosts’ innings by trapping wicketkeeper David Murphy lbw for 4, leaving David Willey unbeaten on 15 at the other end.Worcestershire lost their captain Daryl Mitchell for just 8 in the penultimate over before tea when he left Crook’s delivery only to see his off stump sent spinning. Ali and Andrew then survived the final 10 overs and will resume tomorrow on 29 and 16 respectively with their side surely doomed.
