تحدث عماد متعب عضو رابطة الأندية المحترفة عن مواجهة الأهلي المقبلة أمام الهلال السوداني في ختام مباريات مرحلة المجموعات بدوري أبطال إفريقيا.

ومن المقرر أن يلتقي الأهلي والهلال مساء السبت 1 من أبريل المقبل على أرضية استاد القاهرة بالجولة السادسة من المجموعة بالمسابقة القارية.

وقال عماد متعب في تصريحات إذاعية عبر “أون سبورت إف إم”: “أتوجه بالشكر للدولة المصرية ومسؤولي الأمن على دعم الأهلي والموافقة بحضور 50 ألف مشجع أمام الهلال السوادني وهي مباراة صعبة ومصيرية”.

وأكمل: “اللعب وسط هذا الجمهور الكبير أمر ممتع ومرعب للمنافس، والأهلي حال تخطيه عقبة الهلال السوداني سيتوج ببطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا للمرة الـ11 في تاريخه والجماهير الحمراء أثق فيها وفي حبها ومساندتها للفريق”.

وأردف: “رابطة الأندية تعتمد على مثل هذه المباريات للسعي من أجل زيادة حضور الجماهير في المباريات المحلية، فهذا يمثل فارقًا كبيرًا في تسويق الدوري”.

وتابع: “على مدار تاريخي مع الأهلي سجلت عدة أهداف ولكن أغلاها هدفي في سيوي سبورت بنهائي كأس الكونفدرالية، وجميع اللاعبين كانوا يخشون من عودة الجماهير لبيوتهم وهم في حزن”.

وأشار: “المباراة صعبة للغاية أمام الهلال، فهو يقدم موسمًا جيدًا، ومثل هذه اللقاءات تحتاج لثبات انفعالي وشراسة، ولابد من التحكم في إيقاع المباراة، وأتمنى تسجيل هدف مبكر لأن سيكون له مفعول السحر”.

واختتم: “أفضل البدء بكهربا أو محمد شريف في مركز المهاجم أمام الهلال السوداني، وكهربا قدم أداءً جيدًا وسجل هاتريك أمام القطن الكاميروني، وأي 11 لاعبًا سيشاركون في مثل هذه المباريات سيقدمون أداءً قويًا”.

قرر المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي يوفنتوس، ماسيماليانو أليجري، استبعاد لاعبه الفرنسي الدولي، بول بوجبا، من القائمة التي ستخوض مباراة فرايبورج في الدوري الأوروبي.

ويلتقي يوفنتوس وفرايبورج مساء اليوم في تمام الساعة العاشرة مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة” على ملعب “أليانز” بقيادة الحكم اليوناني الدولي، تيودور سيدريبولوس.

كشف الصحيفة الإيطالية الشهيرة سبب استبعاد بوجبا من قائمة يوفنتوس لمباراة اليوم رغم عدم معاناته بالفعل من أي إصابة، وهو أنه كان قرارًا تأديبيًا من الإدارة بالاتفاق مع أليجري.

يأتي القرار بسبب تأخر بوجبا عن موعد التدريبات أمس، الأربعاء، وبالتالي تم استبعاده تمامًا من القائمة رغم أن كان من المتوقع أن يجلس على مقاعد البدلاء.

Vusi Sibanda, the Zimbabwe opener, has not been selected for the upcoming tour to New Zealand because he chose to play grade cricket in Australia and declined a Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) contract. The omission of Sibanda is in keeping with ZC’s policies of regarding players who are not part of its domestic structure as ineligible for national selection.Zimbabwe play a one-off Test, three ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals in New Zealand, and named a 15-man squad led by Brendan Taylor.Sibanda did not accept an offer from his franchise, the Mid West Rhinos, where he was captain, at the start of the domestic season in September 2011, but continued to play for the national team. He did not play the Stanbic T20 competition in December and travelled to Sydney to play for Eastern Suburbs.At the time, Alistair Campbell, chairman of Zimbabwe’s cricket committee, told Sibanda that he would not be considered for the national team if he chose to go to Australia. Head coach Alan Butcher was asked if Sibanda would definitely be ruled out; he said, “Not as far as he or I are concerned,” leaving room for uncertainty over Sibanda’s future.Sibanda returned to Zimbabwe earlier than expected in an attempt to be considered for the New Zealand tour. Sources close to the player said his arrangement in Australia was no longer working out after he hoped to be contracted for the Big Bash League but was not.Sibanda was named in Zimbabwe’s 20-man training squad last week. The reported that he was not included in any of the team’s drills when they trained, while members of Zimbabwe’s selection and cricket committees debated whether they should include Sibanda in the final squad. He will meet up with the squad once they reach New Zealand.The tour will be a litmus test for Taylor, who will lead Zimbabwe for the first time away from home since taking over the captaincy after the World Cup last year. It will also include the first away Test Zimbabwe will play in six years, after they made a return to the five-day format in August 2011.Sibanda was an integral part of Zimbabwe’s Test comeback. He scored 78 against Bangladesh in their first Test of the new era, which Zimbabwe won by 130 runs. He also contributed an important and 93 in the 34-run loss to New Zealand in Bulawayo two months later. As one of their most senior players in the Zimbabwe squad, Sibanda was also part of the leadership team.Despite the snub, Sibanda’s chances of representing Zimbabwe are not over. South Africa’s World Cup squad feels “more excitement than pressure,” as they go in search of the country’s first piece of ICC silverware in 13 years. The team is widely regarded as the best never to have a won a World Cup, despite going into every tournament as one of the hot favourites.”In previous years, the squad had a lot of big name players and was even ranked number one in the ODI rankings so there was a lot of expectation,” Hashim Amla told ESPNcricinfo. “There is a little less hype around us this time.”Eleven of the 15 squad members that will travel to this month’s World Cup have never played in the global showpiece before and many of those players will form the core of South Africa’s team. Amla is one of them, and is already regarded as a stalwart in the side, though he has only played 42 ODIs. “I feel like a senior player,” he said. ‘”I haven’t played many matches compared to guys like Graeme [Smith] and Jacques [Kallis] so I still regard every match as a learning experience. I don’t claim as to know everything about one-day cricket but I do feel like senior player.”That feeling may stem from the fact that Amla has had a stunning last nine months in the game, in which he has scored six of his seven ODI centuries. Over that time, he has surged to the top of the ODI batting rankings and carved his own niche in the shorter form of the game, despite being initially painted as someone who could only play Test cricket.Amla said the improvements in his strike rate are not as a result of any major shift in mindset, but more a reflection of his growth as a cricketer. “It helped to play a few Test matches before making it into the one-day side because I got to know my own game. When I started off in the one-day side, it took me a while to find my rhythm.” When he found that groove, he found it perfectly and Amla now boasts an average of 59.88 and a strike rate of close to 94.The Amla that batted in last month’s ODI series against India was the Amla that had come full circle from those first stuttering days in coloured clothing. He scored, by his own admission, two “swashbuckling” fifties before stabilising to end the series with a century. That innings, at Centurion, was near perfect, timed exquisitely and played as though it was set to a script. Amla hopes he can continue in that vein in the World Cup. “I am going to try and strike a balance between being positive upfront by scoring as quickly as I can and making sure I stay at the crease for as long as possible.”Time at the wicket for the top order is vital because South Africa’s soft underbelly, the batting in the middle-to-lower order, was exposed against India. Kallis’ return to full fitness will solve some of the problem but there is still concern over the relative inexperience at number six and seven, and the lack of a big-hitting all-rounder in the mould of Lance Klusener. Amla, however, is certain that the likes of Faf du Plessis and Colin Ingram can do the job. “Someone in the top order should aim to bat through to at least the 40th over so that the lower can capitalise on that. Those guys might not be the same as Albie Morkel or Mark Boucher but they can hit the ball hard, they run well between the wickets and they are relatively unknown to the opposition.”South Africa are banking on the element of surprise with both bat and ball, having included uncapped legspinner Imran Tahir in the squad as well. Amla warned against loading too much pressure on the Pakistani-born player. “We shouldn’t put all our hopes on Imran. He is a quality player with a lot of first-class experience and he should be allowed to settle into the team at this level.”Tahir is one of five spinners that South Africa have at their disposal and although he is expected to make the biggest impact, Amla said that seasoned campaigner Johan Botha may the man who makes headlines. “He has done a great job for us over the years and is a very intelligent bowler. He may not be known as a wicket-taker but he controls the middle portion of an innings and if the runs need to be dried up, he is the go-to man.”Spin and the subcontinent go together like vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce and while South Africa are making sure they have enough players who can bowl spin, they are also preparing for many overs of facing spin. “We got a taste of what to expect against India when they rotated many bowlers against us during the one-day series. Spin will play a big role.”South Africa’s once-dodgy record of playing against spin has improved significantly in recent times and although they don’t look obvious favourites for the tournament this time, when Amla describes the players they have at their disposal, they have all the elements to be top contenders. That means that’s even though it’s understated, the pressure to be crowned World Champions does hang over them. It might be why Amla says he is “quite keen to get on the plane and get the tournament started.”

The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

Talking to The Transfer Tavern, O’Rourke had this to say on Dallas, describing the versatile full-back as a ‘big miss’ both on and off the pitch ahead of the trip to Arsenal.

“He’s versatile and willing to play anywhere for the club. I think off the pitch now it’s going to be a big miss because he’s a big character and a leader in that dressing room.

“The situation that Leeds find themselves in right now, they need all those leaders and characters to come to the fore and help them get out of trouble. So yeah, it’ll be a big miss, not just on the pitch, but also off it.”

The Verdict: Transfer plans changed?

Marsch already has a fairly small squad as it is, and the injury problems at Elland Road haven’t stopped after he replaced Marcelo Bielsa at the end of February.

Alongside Dallas, Tyler Roberts, Crysencio Summerville and Adam Forshaw are out for the rest of the season, while Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford have also suffered serious injuries during Marsch’s time in Yorkshire.

On that basis, you’d expect that a number of additions could be made over the summer to bolster the squad, regardless of what division they are in. Dallas was normally the answer to any problems at left-back, right-back or in midfield, so Victor Orta may well be on the hunt for a versatile signing to replace the much-beloved Leeds star this summer.
