Sergio Aguero’s Son Brutally Trolls PSG Over Leo Messi Exit

Sergio Aguero’s son, Benjamin, has trolled Paris Saint-Germain after the French side announced that Lionel Messi would be leaving.

Why was Messi booed at PSG?

Over the weekend, PSG officially confirmed that the World Cup winner would be leaving France this summer after two seasons with the club.

In a statement, Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “I would like to thank Leo Messi for his two seasons in Paris. To see a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner in the Rouge & Bleu and at Parc des Princes, winning back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and inspiring our younger players has been a pleasure.

“His contribution to Paris Saint-Germain and Ligue 1 cannot be understated and we wish Leo and his family all the best for the future.”

In response, Messi said: “I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future.”

The 35-year-old departs having scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 75 games, but wasn’t ever truly adored by the PSG support.

For instance, he was even booed during his final appearance, with fans unhappy that he couldn’t help bring the Champions League to Paris, as well as his recent unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

Well, it seems his godson, is still more than happy to defend Messi against any criticism. Indeed, after PSG posted a farewell message on Instagram, Benjamin Aguero replied to the message, simply writing: “He was too big for you.”

A screenshot was then circulated on social media by Barca Universal and fans quickly flocked to the post to offer their own thoughts on the matter.

Indeed, it seems many supporters were in agreement with Ageuro Junior’s brutal assessment of PSG. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter.

People seemed pretty delighted to see Aguero’s son showing loyalty to the former Barcelona star.

While some suggested Kun Aguero was actually behind the post.

Spurs Close To Agreeing Terms With "Incredible" £40m Star

Tottenham Hotspur are "on the verge" of agreeing contract terms with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, following "positive talks", according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Which goalkeeper are Tottenham signing?

According to a report from earlier this month, Tottenham have made contact with Everton about a summer move for Jordan Pickford, however they may be put off by his high asking price, with the Toffees set to hold out for around £40m.

With Manchester United now readying a move for the England international, Spurs may be forced to move on to other targets, with the likes of Dean Henderson, Mike Maignan and Robert Sanchez previously being identified as potential options.

The same report outlines Raya as a target for the Lilywhites, and having held talks with Brentford about a summer move for the goalkeeper, Romano has now provided a new update, which indicates that a breakthrough has been made.

Taking to Twitter, the transfer expert claimed that a significant breakthrough has been made in talks with the Spaniard, however one potential obstacle is that Tottenham are unhappy with the fee being demanded by Brentford.

The Italian said: "Tottenham are now on the verge of reaching an agreement with David Raya on personal terms. Long term contract, almost agreed after positive talks.

"Raya, open to Spurs move but club to club talks will be crucial. £40m fee asked by Brentford, considered too high."

Is David Raya signing for Tottenham?

The 27-year-old has reportedly turned down two contract offers from Brentford, but he is settled in London, which could give Tottenham a major advantage in the race for his signature, despite the previous links to Manchester United.

Brentford reporter Jay Harris hailed the Barcelona-born shot-stopper last season, describing him as "incredible", while also claiming that he is "one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League".

With 154 saves to his name in the Premier League last season, the Brentford goalkeeper was ranked at the top of the charts, making ten more saves than any other player in the top flight, and he is also impressive with the ball at his feet.

Over the past year, the two-time Spain international has averaged 45.32 touches per 90, which places him in the 94th percentile compared to his positional peers, indicating his willingness to get involved in the play.

Even at £40m, Raya could be a fantastic signing for Tottenham, and it is exciting news that contract terms have almost been agreed.

Nottingham Forest Eye Move For £8m Lodi Replacement

Nottingham Forest will need to further improve their Premier League squad this summer after securing another season in the top flight with a new update now emerging from a reliable source on a potential replacement for one of Steve Cooper's outgoing stars at the City Ground.

What's the latest on Forest's interest in Carlos Augusto?

According to Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest are competing with Inter Milan to secure the signing of Monza left-back Calors Augusto.

Romano revealed on Sunday evening: "Inter will continue talks with Monza for Carlo Augusto next week. He’s concrete target as new left back — no issues on personal terms.

"Nottingham Forest also appreciate the Brazilian LB but Inter are now ahead."

Who would Carlos Augusto replace in the Forest team?

Whilst Inter may be ahead in the race to sign Augusto this summer, there is no doubt that the Brazilian talent would be a huge asset to Steve Cooper next season, especially after the news that Renan Lodi's return to the City Ground looking unlikely.

Journalist Jacque Talbot took to Twitter to confirm every Nottingham Forest fan's fear with the popular left-back looking to play Champions League football next season:

"Exc: Renan Lodi doubtful to make a Premier League return for next season."

As a result, the potential of signing Augusto – who Forest reportedly value at £8m – could not come at a better time for the Garibaldi Reds and if they could entice him to make the move to the Premier League he would be the dream replacement for Lodi.

Over 35 Serie A appearances, the 24-year-old gem – hailed "impressive" by journalist Josh Bunting – has scored six goals, registered five assists and created five big chances, as well as averaging 62.1 touches, 2.1 tackles, 2.1 clearances and 5.2 duels won per game.

That ensures that the full-back compares favourably to the aforementioned Lodi, with the Atletico Madrid loanee providing just one assist and no goals in the most recent campaign as well as creating just one big chance, having also averaged only 43.4 touches, 1.9 tackles, 2.1 clearances and 4.6 duels won per game from his 28 league outings.

Not only that, Augusto ranks in the top 20% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for non-penalty goals, shots on goal, aerial duels won and pass completion, proving that he is a solid all-rounder on the left flank with clear attacking ability and solid defensive traits too.

Securing the services of a player like Augusto who is not only consistent from a defending standpoint but isn't afraid to break the lines in attacking opportunities could significantly improve Forest next season as they will endeavour to compete more comfortably and avoid another relegation scrap at the bottom of the top flight table.

With that being said, the signing of Augusto could soften the blow of losing Lodi for Cooper next season and is definitely a move to watch for the City Ground faithful this summer.

£518k Teen Could Be Sunderland’s Simms Successor

Ellis Simms' return to parent club Everton in January was a huge blow in Sunderland's pursuit of a Premier League return, but they may just have found an adequate replacement.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Benfica youngster Luis Semedo is very close to joining the Championship side after failing to agree new terms with the Primeira Liga heavyweights.

What impact did Ellis Simms have at Sunderland?

Simms made a huge impact in his half-season spell on loan at the Stadium of Light, scoring seven goals in 17 league matches to not only help Sunderland adapt to life back in the Championship, but also compete in the higher reaches of the division.

The 22-year-old may have departed with 31 league games of the campaign left to play, including the two-legged play-off semi-final, yet he still finished as the club's fourth-top scorer behind Jack Clarke (9), Ross Stewart (10) and Amad Diallo (13), the latter of whom also impressed on loan from a Premier League side.

With an average of a goal every 0.56 league games, only Stewart (0.86) was more effective in attack for Sunderland this past season than Simms, who also chipped in with a couple of assists.

Sunderland ultimately battled on to reach the play-offs without Simms, where they went on to lose 3-2 on aggregate to promoted Luton Town, but it remains to be seen what could have been with the Everton academy product in their ranks for the second half of the season – especially considering he started just two Premier League games for the Toffees after being recalled.

Could Luis Semedo replace Simms at Sunderland?

On the face of it, it is easy to see why Semedo is being touted as a like-for-like replacement for Simms. After all, both players are similar in stature, measuring in at roughly the same height at 6 foot 3.

Semedo, whose playing style has seen him described as "a big physical unit" by football reporter Josh Bunting, also has an eye for goal, as reflected by the four goals he scored in four games for Benfica in the 2022-23 UEFA Youth League.

However, whereas Simms arrived at Sunderland with some experience of first-team football under his belt following spells on loan with Blackpool and Hearts, Semedo has so far represented only Benfica B and Portugal U20.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray.

Even before finding his scoring boots in European competition last season, Benfica clearly saw plenty in the youngster as they handed him a professional contract in August 2020 when he turned 18.

While his overall numbers at age-grade level are hardly much to shout about, having scored just twice in 18 Segunda Liga appearances last term, Sunderland have a habit of finding gems in need of fine-tuning – not least Stewart, who went from scoring two goals for Ross County in 2020-21 to 26 goals in his first full campaign with the Black Cats.

With Diallo also heading back to parent club Manchester United – though a possible loan return has been touted – Sunderland need to be smart with their transfer business to plug an obvious gap – or gaps.

As boss Tony Mowbray stated in January, any new signing "has to fit the criteria of what we need". If it is another talented young attacker in need of fine-tuning that Sunderland are indeed after, Semedo – who at a reported €600k (£518k) is a low-cost punt – might well be their man.

Changeable Hamilton pitch in focus

Pitch prediction sometimes brings to mind the reading of palms or tea leaves. In the days before a Test, coaches and captains take familiar positions near one end of the track and stare pensively down at the clay; silently nodding or shaking heads, or murmuring softly under their breath. They drop ritualistically, to their haunches to lay hands on the surface, sometimes feeling it with closed eyes, as if searching for the pitch’s life force. Towards the end of the exercise, glances are often thrown skywards and divine guidance is sought. Occasionally, the pitch curator consulted.Members of both teams observed this tradition, at Seddon Park, on Tuesday, and if they were especially intense during the examination, it is because the Hamilton pitch has had many avatars in recent years. It bounced for Sri Lanka last December, when even a visiting seamer prospered with the short ball, and Sri Lanka’s top order treated the crowd to an unforgettable slapstick collapse. In 2013 it had sung for offspinner Sunil Narine, who took 6 for 91 in the first innings. In the two Tests before that, reverse-swing had defined the outcome. All the way back in 2010, when Australia came, pace and seam movement had proved significant.Pakistan say they are happy to play on any track, but two days out, this track is just as green as the one at Hagley Oval had been. And although it was a warm, cloudless day, Seddon Park’s curators also kept the surface covered for much of the afternoon. Much of the grass will be retained – all the better to mute Pakistan’s spinner, said New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling, who also plays on this surface for the Northern Districts domestic side.”A lot can depend on the cloud cover we get here when conditions are around,” he said. “It can swing when it’s overcast. I’m hoping it doesn’t spin too much because Yasir Shah is a world-class bowler, and we really don’t want to bring him into the game too much.”In addition to aiding swing, the cloud cover and rain expected for the first three days of the match may also prevent the track from drying out as much as Pakistan and Yasir would like. The forecast has improved through the week, however, and Watling suggested that even a little sunshine could change the pitch’s character.Todd Astle will likely lose his spot to Mitchell Santner, who has recovered from a fractured wrist•AFP

“Our pitches here can flatten out quite quickly. If it’s green on day one, I can guarantee that by the end of day two, if it stays sunny, it won’t be that green anymore.”If the pitch does turn out seam-friendly again, the visiting quicks had shown competence in such conditions – particularly on the third morning of the first Test, when the claimed six wickets for 96. Their success had largely come from bowling shorter lengths than they had initially ventured, the previous day.”Their bowlers are very good, and conditions like these can suit them,” Watling said. “They would have learned from that last match and will adjust their lengths accordingly. They would have learned a lot with the bat as well and we can expect a tougher challenge in this game.”New Zealand are likely to retain the quicks that played in Christchurch, but will likely swap Mitchell Santner for Todd Astle in the XI. Watling said the hosts’ attack is varied enough to be menacing, even if the ball does not move for as long as expected.”We know we always have Neil Wagner, who when conditions flatten out, can change a game and give you those couple of crucial wickets to bring our swing bowlers back into the game as well. We’ve got a good balance there. With Colin bowling quite a few overs for us as the allrounder, I think it really helps Kane.”

Sayers rattles Tasmania again after Lehmann ton

Chadd Sayers continued his demolition job against Tasmania after the two Jakes – Lehmann and Weatherald – set up a hefty South Australia total of 481 on the second day at Adelaide Oval. Weatherald had scored his maiden first-class hundred on the first day of the game and Lehmann registered his fifth on the second day, moving to an unbeaten 129 as South Australia dominated. The morning began with South Australia on 2 for 222, and Weatherald added 25 to his overnight 110 before falling to the part-time bowling of Beau Webster. But Lehmann steered the remainder of the innings and compiled a series of partnerships with the lower order that would have frustrated Tasmania, whose debutant Cameron Stevenson finished with the 4 for 114.Tasmania’s first-innings deficit was nearly 400 after they had been skittled for 98 on the opening day, and their second innings in fact started in even worse fashion. Sayers, who had collected 6 for 32 in the first innings, struck twice in the first over of the innings to dismiss Jordan Silk and Webster, and then added the wicket of Ben Dunk as Tasmania collapsed to 4 for 18.By stumps they had recovered a little, at 4 for 57, with George Bailey on 20 and Dominic Michael on 16, but an innings victory for South Australia appeared a formality. Sayers also needed only one more wicket to complete his second ten-wicket game in first-class cricket, his first having come the last time he played against Tasmania, in March.

Leeds Unlikely To Be Able To Get Managerial Duo

Leeds United are unlikely to bring in either Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter as their new manager this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Who has been linked with Leeds job?

The Whites ended up getting through three managers during the 2022/23 season, with Jesse Marsch eventually replaced by Javi Gracia, as his reign got progressively worse.

The Spaniard fared no better, however, and with Leeds spinning towards the Championship under him, Sam Allardyce was brought in to mastermind a recovery act. He didn't have long enough to make his presence felt, however, and he left the club last week after the Whites were relegated from the Premier League.

Those high up at Elland Road are now looking to nail the next managerial appointment this summer, with a number of individuals already linked with the vacant job.

Two of those are Rodgers and Potter, both of whom were sacked by Leicester City and Chelsea respectively earlier in the campaign, but are still considered good British coaches.

Graham Potter

Are Rodgers and Potter unlikely to join?

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jacobs admitted that Rodgers and Potter are unlikely to want to head into the Championship, given their current respective statuses in the game:

"We're going to see other candidates linked, like Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers, but I sense these are names that were being discussed when Leeds were still in the Premier League with a chance of safety.

"I think the likes of Rodgers and Potter can get quite big Premier League jobs still. Leeds are a big club, so if they were in the Premier League, maybe in the off-season and with new owners that would have been of appeal. But I would be surprised if Potter or Rodgers personally considered dropping down into the Championship."

In truth, this was always going to be a potential issue for Leeds when it came to finding a top-class new manager, with the Premier League seen as the holy grail, and dropping down to the second tier an understandable backward step in their career.

For that reason, both Rodgers and Potter have always felt a little pie in the sky, and it could be that someone like Steven Gerrard is the best option, with the Liverpool legend having something to prove after an underwhelming spell at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, former Leeds Under-21s boss Carlos Corberan could also be a strong choice, with the 40-year-old already thriving in the Championship with West Brom, and possibly seeing a return to Elland Road as an exciting avenue to go down.

Spurs Lead Transfer Race For £110k p/w "Magician"

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be leading the summer transfer pursuit for the Leicester City England midfielder James Maddison.

How much is James Maddison worth?

This summer will potentially see a lot of change unfold in north London with the recent appointment of Ange Postecoglou promising a fresh start.

Indeed, speaking following his appointment, the Australian has told Spurs fans he hopes to provide them with a brand of football which will excite them:

"I think it’s an exciting opportunity for us to now set off in a new direction, play football and create an environment that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club," he said.

However, whether he currently has the players at his disposal to instil his attacking style of play which comes amid the transfer links to Maddison.

The attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer with the likes of Newcastle United also believed to be interested.

There have been some suggestions that Maddison will be made available for sale this summer but it will cost clubs up to £60m to secure his services.

As a result of the hefty price tag, insider Graeme Bailey has said on the Talking Transfers podcast that Spurs are the more likely suitors for the 26-year-old star:

"What we're getting out of Newcastle, they're not willing to go over £40m, let alone over £50m which is what it's going to take to get Maddison. It's going to be close to a £60m deal. We think at least £50m with add-ons taking it to £60m.

"So as it stands, Newcastle are not willing to go to that price. And if you do believe Newcastle are not going to go there. I make Spurs quite strong favourites to get him, at this moment in time."

Who does James Maddison want to join?

The £110k-per-week star enjoyed an exceptional individual campaign in the Premier League despite the Foxes suffering relegation to the Championship.

Hailed a "magician" by some in the media, the England international was able to return a stunning 10 goals and nine assists in the league alone (via Transfermarkt).

In the not-so-distant past, it has been reported that the 26-year-old would be keen to make a move to London when his time at Leicester comes to an end.

Ange Postecoglou

However, reports over the last week have claimed he is being tempted by the prospect of potentially playing on Tyneside amid their believed interest.

Given the Toon are believed to only have £75m made available for Eddie Howe to spend this summer, it has to be questioned whether Maddison is a viable option.

Newcastle were not believed to be willing to match Leicester's £60m valuation last summer and now he only has one year remaining on his deal, which feels even less likely.

This could well open the door for Spurs to come in and snap up the midfielder who is thought to have been given the thumbs-up by their new boss, Postecoglou.

Stokes reprimanded by ICC for reaction to dismissal

Ben Stokes has received his second ICC reprimand in the last month, giving him two demerit points under the new code of conduct – halfway to being banned for a Test match

ESPNcricinfo staff26-Nov-2016Ben Stokes has received his second ICC reprimand in the last month, giving him two demerit points under the new code of conduct – halfway to being banned for a Test match. Stokes admitted a Level One offence after being dismissed on the first day of the Mohali Test against India.Stokes was found to have used “language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting”, in breach of Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Having been stumped for 29 during the afternoon session, he reacted to the India players celebrating – exchanging words with Virat Kohli – and his comments were heard by the on-field umpires. In Dhaka last month, Stokes was fined 15% of his match fee and given a demerit point for “verbally engaging” with Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman. If he reaches four demerit points within a two-year period, he faces suspension for one Test or two limited-overs internationals. The charge in Mohali was laid by the umpiring team of Marais Erasmus, Chris Gaffaney and Kumar Dharmasena. Because Stokes accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Ranjan Madugalle, there was no need for a formal hearing.
