Deserves a chance: Leeds fans are excited by Ryan Edmondson

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United’s Under-23 side played out a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace’s Under-23s on Monday afternoon and there was another goal for Ryan Edmondson.

Edmondson has now found the back of the net on 18 occasions this season, which has led to a number of Leeds fans calling for him to be involved in the first team.

The 17-year-old has played twice in the Championship this season, but his last involvement was against Birmingham City back in September.

It does seem unlikely that first-team boss Marcelo Bielsa will call for the teenager at this stage of the campaign when considering what is at stake.

However, some of the Leeds supporters feel that the forward should be given the opportunity to prove himself before the end of the campaign.

It really is a huge period of the season for the Whites, who have won their last two in the Championship against Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday.

Next up for Bielsa’s team is a home game against Wigan Athletic on Friday, where they will be looking to consolidate their spot in the top two.

Keep him! Liverpool fans want James Milner to be kept at the club

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to say that they want to see James Milner kept at the club this summer, despite the fact that his contract will have just one year remaining on it.

The Leeds academy graduate has made over 160 appearances for the Reds since arriving on a free transfer back in 2015, and has become a key cog in the side now challenging Milner’s former club – Manchester City – for the title.

Are the media letting Jurgen Klopp off lightly for his lack of silverware? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

However, the 33-year-old’s contract is set to run out in 2020, despite some publications stating otherwise. This means that Jurgen Klopp will need to make a decision on what to do with the midfielder in the near future, or he could risk losing him on a free.

Liverpool fans have grown fond of their No.7 since his arrival at Anfield, and whilst he is getting on a bit, Milner is still a more than capable performer and a player who should be kept around, if the fans reactions on Twitter are anything to go by…

Liverpool fans react to Dele Alli’s display as Tottenham beaten by Ajax

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Ajax in north London on Tuesday, and Liverpool fans were quick to have their say on Dele Alli’s display.

Spurs would have been looking to the England international to provide a positive spark against the Dutch outfit given Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane were absent through suspension and injury respectively, but he ultimately failed to show up.

The 23-year-old has generally struggled throughout the entire campaign and hasn’t matched the performances and statistics he has produced in previous years, which will surely be a concern for Mauricio Pochettino.

Does your club have a legend who is criminally overrated? Fans answer this tough question in the video below…

Reds supporters were obviously keeping a close eye on who they could face in the Champions League final should they manage to progress past Barcelona, but they were clearly left far from impressed with the former MK Dons man.

While one described him as the “biggest myth in English football”, another described him as “stinking up the place”.

The Anfield faithful may have wished they had signed Alli in the past, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be the case now.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Needs to go: Paul Pogba must be moved on for the greater good

[ad_pod ]

According to The Sun, Manchester United are ready to begin contract talks with Paul Pogba amid interest from Real Madrid, although the midfielder is demanding an eye-watering £500,000-a-week to stay at Old Trafford.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Frenchman returned to Manchester from Juventus in a then world-record deal worth £89m, and was put on wages worth £300,000-a-week which made him the club’s top earner before the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile international earns a staggering £505,000-a-week, making him by far and away the Red Devils’ highest earning player.

Watch the video below to find out what Jesse Lingard is like off the pitch in the latest Match Of The Bae with Emma Conybeare…

Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is aware that United are desperate to keep their academy graduate at the club and is reportedly going to push to club all the way when contract negotiations do commence, which may leave the 20-time Premier League champions in a difficult position.

How should United go about this?

Sell him. Plain and simple. The World Cup winner’s demands won’t do anything to help the current salary crisis that the club are going through thanks to Sanchez’s astronomical earnings, which have seen David de Gea and Ander Herrera make extraordinary requests.

It has been reported that Solskjaer is plotting a huge transfer swoop this summer, with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Declan Rice, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho at the top of his wishlist.

Obviously, these players are going to cost a lot of money. A lot. Chelsea turned down a bid of £35m for Hudson-Odoi back in January, and the player’s stock has certainly increased since then having made his England debut.

Also, the Hammers are reportedly unwilling to sell Rice for less than £100m, whilst Wan-Bissaka is valued at £40m – Sancho should also cost in excess of £100m.

The reported fee that Real Madrid are willing to spend on Pogba is set at £125m, which would go some way to helping United acquire the aforementioned targets.

Additionally, getting him off the wage bill would free up more funds to spend on those targets’ salaries; United must cut their ties with Pogba for the sake of a much needed summer rebuild.

Celtic fans slam Lennon for not using Oliver Burke

[ad_pod ]

Celtic beat Kilmarnock in fairy-tale fashion on Saturday afternoon, but Neil Lennon’s use of one January signing is driving fans crazy.

Celtic picked up yet another win on the road to their eighth consecutive title on Saturday, but this one came in truly wonderful fashion.

In a week when the club lost their greatest and most iconic player, captain Billy McNeill, Jozo Simunovic headed in the only goal on 67 minutes to give the Bhoys all three points.

Be sure to check out the incredible story of the man who rose from a Tanzanian refugee camp to become one of Australia’s biggest football stars in the video below…

Simunovic of course dons the same number five that McNeill won 23 major trophies in, and 1967 was the year McNeill guided the Lisbon Lions to the European Cup.

It wasn’t all plain sailing in the match though, and the drab performances with little creativity are starting to become a serious mark against Lennon’s chances of becoming permanent manager.

His use of Oliver Burke in particular is infuriating fans, as the dynamic winger once again warmed the bench and watched on as the Hoops struggled to crack open the Killie defence.

The January loan signing has mustered four goals and three assists in 16 appearances, and the Twitter reactions down below are bemused by Lennon’s decision not to include him on Saturday…

Load of rubbish: Liverpool fans slam Tim Sherwood after his comments

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to slam Tim Sherwood, after the former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager claimed that Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez won’t want to see his former side win the Premier League title.

Sherwood was discussing the Reds’ trip to St James’ Park next week, where Benitez, who almost led Liverpool to the title in 2009, could put a serious dent in his former employers’ title aspirations by grabbing a result.

Chelsea fans were giving it large at Anfield on Sunday. Watch their afternoon get slowly ruined in the video below…

Speaking about the fixture, Sherwood said as quoted by The Express: “Contrary to what people might believe, Rafa Benitez does not want Liverpool to win the league.

“I don’t think he will. As much as the Liverpool fans will believe that Rafa will be a Liverpool fan, he won’t want to be the manager who never won the league and let Jurgen Klopp win it.”

Benitez is held in high regard by the Anfield faithful after guiding them to the last of their five European Cup successes with the famous night in Istanbul back in 2005, and he has always spoken fondly of the club whenever the opportunity has arisen.

As a result, the Reds supporters on Twitter haven’t taken kindly to Sherwood’s suggestion that he will want to see them fail, as seen by their angry responses to his comments…

Can’t play Boyd: Sheffield Wednesday fans debate Aarons replacements

[ad_pod ]

Sheffield Wednesday’s season has been shrouded with injuries and the latest man to join the treatment table is Newcastle loanee Rolando Aarons.

The winger was due to start for the club against Stoke last weekend but hobbled off in the warm-up and is now a major doubt for the Owls’ clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Reacting to the news on Twitter that he could miss another game, Wednesday fans were busy debating who may replace him.

Some supporters explored the option of playing Fernando Forestieri on the left, a role he has played previously in his career.

However, a few fans were keen to stress that they didn’t want George Boyd to play. The former Burnley man started for the Yorkshire club in place of Aarons last weekend but struggled to have the same sort of impact as his fellow teammate.

The 23-year-old arrived on loan from Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle in January and has helped transform the way Wednesday attack with his willing runs, making 1.6 dribbles per game. In nine matches he’s scored one goal and claimed one assist too.

Therefore, missing a player like him could be huge in terms of the club’s promotion hopes. Steve Bruce’s men face a massive seven days, taking on Villa, Nottingham Forest and Leeds in the space of a week.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

Manchester United: Time for Paul Pogba to prove world-class status against Barcelona

Ever since his blazing start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign, Paul Pogba’s been the centre of attention at Manchester United.

Indeed, such is the size of his personality, he’s now expected to score or deliver each and every game, something he’s not really been doing since the Norwegian’s reign was made permanent.

As a matter of fact, the Frenchman’s been unable to score or assist for the past five games in all competitions. In the Champions League – a competition he has failed to deliver in since helping take Juventus to the final in 2015 – his record is even worse. After scoring a brace and assisting against BSC Young Boys, Pogba’s been unable to contribute in his last six Champions League matches.

Having cost a world record fee at the time of his arrival in 2016, it’s not good enough.

While he’s still having his personal best season at Old Trafford, having scored 11 and assisted 9 in the league, Solskjaer needs him at his best as Barcelona await on Wednesday night. Pogba’s been flirting with rivals Real Madrid over recent weeks and needs to prove his world-class mettle against the very best.

The Frenchman has a daunting task ahead, with a daunting midfield of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Arthur lying await to overpower him. Things will be even more difficult than the Paris Saint Germain game, as Pogba cannot let emotions get the better of him again.

He impressed during the final in Berlin against the Blaugrana four years ago and needs another big performance to save his dwindling reputation when it comes to the biggest club games in the world.

Being under pressure to perform, Pogba needs to deliver something special to inspire the Red Devils. The future might be uncertain, but he has to make the best of the present.

By utilizing his swagger in getting United playing incisive attacking football, the special Frenchman needs to keep his side’s Champions League dreams alive by outwitting Messi and co.
