New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup final on Sunday against Australia, and the subsequent India tour with a broken right hand. Conway sustained the injury when he struck his bat just after being dismissed in the semi-final against England in Abu Dhabi. An X-ray on Thursday confirmed “a break to his right hand fifth Metacarpal”.”He’s absolutely gutted to be ruled out like this at this time,” head coach Gary Stead said in an NZC release. “Devon is hugely passionate about playing for the BLACKCAPS and no one is more disappointed at the moment than he is – so we’re really trying to rally around him.”It looked a pretty innocuous reactionary incident on the field, but the blow obviously caught the bat between the glove padding, and while it’s not the smartest thing he’s done, there’s certainly an element of bad luck in the injury.”Devon is a great team-man and a very popular member of the side so we’re all feeling for him. Due to the timelines we won’t be bringing in a replacement player for this World Cup or next week’s T20 series against India, but are working through our options for the Test series later this month.”Conway scored a crucial 46 off 38 balls at No. 4 in New Zealand’s tense chase of 167 before he was stumped off Liam Livingstone’s bowling. He also took up the gloves midway into the tournament, when New Zealand decided to bring fast bowler Adam Milne into the XI, as Conway, a specialist batter in the XI until then, took over keeping duties from Tim Seifert.New Zealand had picked the same squad of 15 for the World Cup and the three T20Is in India starting on November 17, just three days after the final.Conway, with an experience of three Tests who has a double-hundred to his name on debut at Lord’s, was also in the squad of 15 for the two India Tests that will be played after the T20I series. He was the second keeping option in the squad after Tom Blundell.

Rodrigues outdoes Mandhana as Sydney Thunder slip further

Mignon du Preez’s excellent half-century led Hobart Hurricanes to the biggest chase of the season

AAP and ESPNcricinfo staff27-Oct-2021Defending WBBL champions Sydney Thunder remain winless from five outings after succumbing to the Melbourne Renegades. Not even a classy 64 from Indian star Smriti Mandhana could help the Thunder secure a breakthrough victory in Launceston on Wednesday. Once Mandhana was bowled by her international teammate Harmanpreet Kaur in the 16th over, the Thunder’s hopes of reeling in the Renegades’ 5 for 142 were dead and buried.Thunder were adamant about not panicking after Tuesday’s defeat to the Melbourne Stars, but with just one point – coming from a washed-out game – their title defence is officially in tatters. Their task was always going to be hard without captain Rachael Haynes, who is on parental leave and was also battling injury during Australia’s recent multi-format series against India. It has proved to be a baptism of fire for teenage star Hannah Darlington as stand-in skipper. But Renegades’ title chances continue to look rosy with Kaur and fellow Indian star Jemimah Rodrigues now coming into their own. Rodrigues set the tone for the Renegades’ third win of the tournament, compiling an unbeaten 75 in a player of the match performance. She put on a 84-run opening stand with Josephine Dooley (37), which immediately put pressure on the Thunder in the field. Renegades’ Courtney Webb was the only player to take multiple wickets, and had an unsuccessful attempt at a hat-trick on the last ball of the game.Mignon du Preez was the start of Hobart Hurricanes’ chase•Getty ImagesA powerful innings from former South Africa captain Mignon du Preez helped Hobart Hurricanes to an unlikely four-wicket victory over the Melbourne Stars. The Hurricanes got off to a slow start in pursuit of the Stars’ 4 for 144, but du Preez was a force to be reckoned with as she clubbed 62 from 45 balls in a knock that included three sixes. Australian star Nicola Carey (24) and Indian international Richa Ghosh (24 not out) also chipped in with crucial knocks to see the Hurricanes home with four balls to spare. It was the highest successful chase of the season so far and lifted Hurricanes up to fourth.Irish allrounder Kim Garth, who bowled three consecutive maidens in her previous match, continued her hot form for Stars, top-scoring with an unbeaten 44 and knocking over Ruth Johnston for a duck in the first over. Garth and Maia Bouchier added 83 for the fourth wicket after Stars had lost 3 for 9 in two overs against Tayla Vlaeminck who picked up all three, with both Meg Lanning and Elyse Villani chopping on.

Chelsea wasted £48m on Tuchel signing who earned more than Palmer

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Stamford Bridge, losing just two games in all competitions so far this season.

The Italian has only suffered defeats against Manchester City and Servette, with his side currently enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

As a result, the Blues currently sit fourth in the Premier League, sitting just four points off current leaders Liverpool – an example of the excellent work conducted by the 44-year-old since his appointment during the off-season.

Maresca has been rewarded with the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for September, following a run of three wins and a draw.

However, his recent success is largely down to one player who has starred in West London since his own move to the club last summer.

Cole Palmer’s stats in 2024/25

After joining Chelsea in a £40m deal from Manchester City last season, Cole Palmer wasted no time in demonstrating his talents, registering a total of 33 combined goals and assists in the league – the most of any player in the division.

Cole Palmer

The 22-year-old was subsequently handed the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award for his efforts in 2023/24, but he’s taken his game to the next level in the opening months of the new season.

Palmer has already registered six goals and five assists in his first seven league outings – including a four-goal haul against Brighton, which saw him become the first player in the league’s history to score four times in the first half of a match.

Like Maresca, the attacker has been recognised for his impact over the last few weeks, claiming the Player of the Month award, with the Englishman seemingly going from strength to strength in the capital.

His ability to create an opportunity out of nothing has the ability to get supporters off their seats, leading Maresca’s charge of hopefully securing a Champions League spot during the Italian’s debut campaign at the helm.

However, despite his excellent form since his transfer, he still earns less than one player who failed to impress at Stamford Bridge – despite earning himself a new contract just a couple of months ago.

The man who earned more than Palmer for Chelsea

During the summer of 2022, Chelsea splashed upwards of £300m on new talent as owner Todd Boehly looked to transform Thomas Tuchel’s squad after his takeover a couple of months prior.

One player who moved to Stamford Bridge during the aforementioned window was centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, signing for a reported £33m.

However, despite the high expectations around his transfer, the Senegalese international failed to impress during his time in West London, making just 32 appearances.

The 33-year-old scored twice during his only season at the club, including a fine volley against Tottenham Hotspur in a feisty affair at Stamford Bridge.

The 2022/23 season would be his only season with the Blues before departing and joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal – the club in which he still remains at today.

However, his one season at Chelsea was a costly one, with Koulibaly earning a reported £295k-per-week, as per Capology – taking home £15.4m in base wages alone.

1) Raheem Sterling

£325k-p/w

2) Kalidou Koulibaly

£295k-p/w

3) N’golo Kante

£290k-p/w

4) Kai Havertz

£250k-p/w

5) Reece James

£250k-p/w

His subsequent weekly earnings are over two times higher than current first-team star Palmer, who is currently earning £130k-per-week despite his recent sensational form.

When combining Koulibaly’s wages alongside his transfer fee, he cost the club around £48.4m in just 12 months – working out to around £1.5m per appearance he made.

Undoubtedly, the move was a huge mistake, looking well off the standard required to be a success in the Premier League.

However, the club made the right call to sell him when they did, preventing them from losing a huge chunk of money on a player who failed to provide the quality many expected upon his move to the Blues.

2 changes: Slot drops Nunez in predicted Liverpool lineup vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool have the chance to head into the October international break in pole position, leading the race in the Premier League after six matches. Crystal Palace and Selhurst Park stand in the way of achieving this.

Palace shattered expectations under Oliver Glasner last season, who transformed the club after it had fallen by the wayside under Roy Hodgson to win and play some astounding football, Michael Olise and Ebere Eze starring.

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

A summer of upheaval has left the Eagles grounded in 2024/25, with three draws and three defeats to show so far.

Under Arne Slot, Liverpool have conceded the fewest league goals of any side across England’s top four divisions, but must not approach this lunchtime fixture with any degree of complacency, for Palace are desperate to earn three points and rise from the relegation zone.

Slot has been reserved in his pack-shuffling so far, but he should make two changes from the midweek win for this one, with Darwin Nunez likely to head back to the bench.

1 GK – Alisson Becker

Alisson’s 84.6% save percentage in the Premier League this season is the joint-highest (alongside Bournemouth’s Neto, who has only played twice).

He’s the best. What else is there to say?

2 RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Man United

Has Trent Alexander-Arnold plateaued over the past several matches? Is his contractual cloud hanging overhead in a gloomy fashion, affecting his performances?

Perhaps. Trent has still been mesmerising this season, with a ball-playing quality that scant few players can mimic, let alone match. He could be key against Glasner’s outfit.

3 CB – Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate ended the 2024/25 campaign on the rocks. The France international had been displaced by the younger Jarell Quansah and had been sapped of confidence after some “dreadful” displays, as The Athletic’s James Pearce said.

He’s been reborn under Slot’s leadership. Konate has already scored twice this season and has arguably been even better than his indomitable defensive partner… winning a whopping 74% of his contested duels in the Premier League.

4 CB – Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk will be delighted with his side’s defensive efforts this season, and though Konate is perhaps putting in the flashier, more energetic performances, he is simply unrivalled in blending his intelligence, positioning and galvanising leadership together.

The hosts might have been goal-shy across the opening weeks, but there’s plenty of talent at Palace’s disposal. This is a team that is performing far below its expected level, and it might click at any stage.

Liverpool need to be ready, and Van Dijk will be so important in ensuring this raucous ground does not find the fuel to lift it out of the relegation zone with a statement win.

5 LB – Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson in action for Liverpool

Andy Robertson’s fitness levels have not been fragile by any stretch but he did hobble off at Molineux one week ago, albeit starting against Bologna several days later.

There’s a slight chance that Kostas Tsimikas will replace the Scotsman, but he should retain his starting berth, offering a creative outlet from the left flank.

6 CM – Ryan Gravenberch

Ryan Gravenberch for Liverpool

Man of the match against Bologna, man of the moment for Slot’s Liverpool. Ryan Gravenberch has been a revelation at the heart of the pitch this season, so elegant and cultured in his dynamic midfield role.

He’s played every minute of Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns this term, and that’s not going to change against Crystal Palace.

7 CM – Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister opened his account for the season with a close-range strike earlier this week. His role in Slot’s team probably won’t see him score many, but the Argentina international might just be the most crucial member in the line-up, so influential and important in guiding the attacking flow, in retaining possession.

He’s so wonderfully varied in his craft, ranking among the top 10% of central midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions and the top 9% for tackles per 90, as per FBref. What a player.

8 RW – Mohamed Salah

He simply doesn’t stop. Ceaseless. Inevitable. Mohamed Salah was the star as Liverpool triumphed on Wednesday evening. It was an indifferent collective effort from the Reds, but Salah’s goal-and-assist display maintained their 100% start to the Champions League campaign.

9 AM – Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai for Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai, has divided opinion somewhat this season, but there’s a first-class player in there and he is being picked to start each week for a reason.

The Hungarian, aged 23, scored seven goals and supplied four assists across 43 matches, which is something he wanted to improve on. This term, with three goal contributions from eight matches, he’s steadily working toward achieving that.

10 LW – Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo could finally receive a starting berth in the Premier League under Slot’s wing after Luis Diaz was chosen for the continental stage, and he’s fully deserving of the opportunity.

Despite his infrequent role this term, Gakpo, hailed for his “special skill set” by Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant manager Pep Lijnders, has been excellent on the left wing, looking like a different player to the man who ebbed and flowed under Klopp, never truly hitting his stride.

Finn Allen drives formidable total as Lancashire knock on door of knock-outs

High-scoring thriller comes down to the final over as Durham take it deep

Paul Edwards16-Jul-2021
Lancashire do not have blissful memories of this fixture. Three years ago they failed to score six off the final over when they had four wickets in hand. That defeat led to one or two frank exchanges in the dressing room and the departure of Jordan Clark to Surrey, albeit that had been possible for a while. Then last year their batsmen were swept aside like shingle in a perigean spring tide by an ecstatic Matty Potts. And for much of this magnificent and vital contest it looked as though Durham were up to their quite recent tricks yet again. Chasing 200 for victory, a total they had never scored to win a T20 match, Cameron Bancroft’s men approached their task with very typical courage. David Bedingham was largely responsible for his side taking 78 runs off their Powerplay overs and even after he had been caught at short third man for 50 by the substitute fielder Jack Blatherwick off Tom Hartley, the visitors’ pursuit was maintained on a very good batting pitch by Sean Dickson. With two overs to be bowled 26 runs were still needed but Luke Wood had Dickson caught at long-off by Steven Croft for 53 and Danny Lamb kept his no doubt febrile nerve to bowl a series of yorkers when Durham needed 15 off the final six balls. Lancashire won by half a dozen runs but the visitors came closer than that and as so often in such contests the emotional polarities at the end of the match were revealing. For this game mattered a lot. The Vitality Blast season has moved from simple entertainment to dread consequence. Most analyses of this evening’s programme began with “if” and ended in a labyrinth of knotted possibilities. Simplicity was rarer than Prime Ministerial truth. And even now Lancashire have secured the victory, things are not completely clear. True, Durham now have no chance of reaching the quarter-finals, a fate they hardly deserve, but Lancashire’s place in the last eight rests on – wouldn’t you guess it? – the game against Yorkshire. Win that and they can look forward to an away quarter-final. Lose and their fate depends on Northants and Leicestershire defeating Birmingham and Worcestershire on Sunday. The most straightforward way of dealing with affairs – and also the most pleasing from head coach Glen Chapple’s point of view – would be simply to beat Yorkshire, and that task will be facilitated if Finn Allen and Keaton Jennings bat as they did in the opening overs against Durham. As though carrying scarred, second-hand recollections of recent games against these opponents, Lancashire’s openers began by dismantling Bancroft’s attack and then demolished it almost completely. The first four overs of the innings brought 45 runs, the Powerplay 75. Spin or seam, left hand or right, it made no difference. Allen hit three sixes in reaching his fifty off 21 balls, equalling the second quickest in the county’s short-form history. He and Jennings put on 101 in eight overs before the New Zealander holed out to Scott Borthwick’s leg spin for 66, Carse taking the catch at long-off. Two overs later Jennings top-edged the same bowler to Paul van Meekeren at short fine leg and departed for 43.The run-scoring slackened in the third quarter of the innings and perhaps it could scarcely have done otherwise. Alex Davies and Dane Vilas took stock to the extent that none of the overs between the ninth and fifteenth yielded ten or more runs. Then Davies whacked Trevaskis for a six and a four and Lancashire were off again. Well, at least Davies was. The endlessly combative batter reached his fifty off 36 balls in the 19th over but holed out to Borthwick off Potts at long-on for 56 four balls later and Lancashire finished on 199 for 5. Borthwick was the pick of the Durham bowlers and his 2 for 30 were the best figures. That is not always the way. Statistics sometimes wrong-foot performance in this game.Similarly a side chasing a tall total can often fold up and subside. But that has never been Durham’s way. Bedingham belted almost every bowler in the Powerplay and Dickson’s approach to his task was epitomised when he whacked a straight six off Croft that smashed a window in the home dressing room and left an outraged Chapple standing arms akimbo on the balcony as if making the points that someone had got to pay for the damage and Lancashire are not made of windows. So the T20 season comes down to the last weekend of group games. Lancashire can be encouraged that they have now won five of their six home games and tied the other. On the other side they would not be facing such a tense denouement to their campaign if they had more than just one win from seven matches on their travels. An incompetent philanderer could not have played away with less success.

Com mais uma Libertadores, Anderson Barros pode permanecer no Palmeiras

Sheffield Wednesday now interested in signing £6m teenage prodigy on loan

Sheffield Wednesday are in a race to sign a Premier League midfielder on loan before the summer transfer window slams shut. The Owls have been a very busy side this summer, but with still under three weeks remaining, the club could still be keeping an eye on potential developments that may occur.

Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer business

The Yorkshire side got their Championship campaign underway on Sunday in the best possible fashion, as they demolished Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle 4-0. This was a very impressive start for Wednesday, even more so when you consider how long it took the club to pick up their first league win last season, and the result continued what has been a very impressive summer for the Owls under Danny Rohl.

Wednesday have been extremely busy so far in this transfer window, adding ten players over the course of the last few months as they look to avoid a repeat of last season. Some of those new additions include Charlie McNeill from Manchester United, as well as Nathaniel Chalobah and Jamal Lowe on free transfers.

But the most eye-catching arrival has got to be Ike Ugbo, who spent time on loan at Hillsborough, and the club had been chasing his signature for much of this transfer window. It appears as though their transfer business may not be finished just yet however, with another McNeill type signing lined up.

Sheffield Wednesda interested in signing Malick Yalcouye

According to the Daily Express’ Charlie Parker-Turner, Malick Yalcouye is set to be loaned out by Premier League side Brighton in this transfer window. The report states that the midfielder has impressed during pre-season for the Seagulls, but a decision has been made for him to spend the upcoming campaign elsewhere.

Wednesday are said to be interested in signing the player but face competition from Luton Town and arch-rivals Sheffield United. Yalcouye joined Brighton from Swedish club IFK Goteborg earlier in this transfer window, in a deal that is said to have cost £6 million.

Therefore, the midfielder has yet to play a competitive game for the club, but as Parker-Turner states, he has impressed during pre-season for the top-flight club. The 18-year-old started his career at ASEC Mimosas, and in 2023 he made his debut in the African Champions League at the age of 17, which was the start of some very big things to come in the player’s career.

Yalcouye only joined IFK Goteborg earlier this year, so he wasn’t with the Swedish side for long before moving to England and signing for Brighton. The young midfielder played a total of 959 minutes in the Swedish league, while he also played a further 162 minutes in the cup competition, as per Transfermarkt.

Chelsea ace would consider Man Utd move as Ashworth contacts his agents

A Chelsea player is said to be open to the possibility of joining Manchester United this summer, coming after Dan Ashworth and co made contact with his agents.

Players who could still leave Chelsea this summer

Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr, Ian Maatsen, Omari Hutchinson, Michael Golding and Lewis Hall have already departed Stamford Bridge this summer, helping to bring in around £89 million worth of transfer fees in total.

Their exits have also worked wonders to trim Enzo Maresca's bloated squad, but the Italian could be set to watch on as co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley seek new homes for more surplus Chelsea players.

Romelu Lukaku is a drain on the club's wage bill, and it is believed Todd Boehly is eager to find a buyer for the Belgian. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, that suitor could well be Napoli, as the Serie A side are becoming increasingly open to the prospect of a part-exchange deal involving Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, it is also believed by some that Atletico Madrid are locked in talks with Chelsea over signing Conor Gallagher. The England midfielder's exit would be a very unpopular one considering his status among Chelsea supporters, but Gallagher's contract expires next year, so Boehly and co are faced with the difficult decision of selling for pure profit while they still can.

Armando Broja, Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei have also been linked with exits in the last few weeks, but a far more interesting name attracting plenty of debate is Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

Chelsea left the Cobham academy graduate out of their pre-season tour, which sparked fury among sections of the fanbase, especially when factoring in just how impressively he performed towards the back end of 2023/2024. Chalobah started seven of Mauricio Pochettino's final 10 Premier League games last term, earning plaudits for his displays, while the Englishman helped to guide his club to a Conference League qualifying place.

"He was probably our best defender in the last 10-15 games last season," said Chelsea season ticket holder Bert Barrett to GOAL.

"No coincidence our form improved massively with him in there instead of Disasi and [Benoit] Badiashile."

Chalobah would consider Man Utd move from Chelsea after agent talks

The 25-year-old's contract doesn't expire until 2028, but it is believed Chelsea could green-light his sale for a fee of around £25-30 million.

Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah

TEAMtalk suggest that Man Utd could well take this opportunity in their search for defenders, with Old Trafford director Ashworth and his team reaching out to the "impressive" Chalobah's agents to gauge the conditions of a deal.

They add that Chalobah would think about a move to Man United from Chelsea if the opportunity arises. Erik ten Hag's side are also looking to raise funds by selling winger Antony for a cut-price £25 million, despite signing the Brazilian for around £81 million.

Pep could cash in on Grealish with Man City swoop for £60m PL star

Manchester City are just over a week away from their opening game of the 2024/25 campaign as they prepare to face off against Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Pep Guardiola may have been disappointed by his side's trophy haul last season as they only came away with one piece of silverware – the Premier League title.

The Spanish boss may want more success in the cup competitions, domestically and in Europe, this time around as the Cityzens go in search of another treble.

There has not been much change to the City squad during the summer transfer window, though, as they have only made one new signing so far.

Brazil international Savinho has signed on a permanent deal to bolster Guardiola's options on the right side of the attack, after spending last season on loan with Girona in LaLiga.

There is still a few weeks left to go before the summer transfer window officially slams shut, however, and this means that there is still time for the Premier League champions to make further alterations to the group, with outs and ins.

Potential attacking transfers for City

TEAMtalk recently reported that Manchester City forward Jack Grealish is a target for his former club Aston Villa ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The outlet claimed that the Villans are keeping a close eye on his situation at The Etihad and are weighing up a move for his services, after they qualified for the Champions League last term.

It stated that Unai Emery's side would like to sign the England international on a season-long loan deal, with an obligation to make it permanent next summer. However, there was no mention of how much they would be willing to pay for him.

Guardiola could sanction an exit for Grealish amid this interest from Villa by swooping to sign another attacking midfielder to take his place in the squad.

The Sun reported last month that the Cityzens are one of the teams eyeing up a potential swoop to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer.

It was claimed that City and fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in landing the England international and would be willing to pay his £60m release clause if they decide to go ahead and pursue a move before the end of the window.

The Eagles wizard could come in as a fantastic signing for Guardiola who would allow the ex-Barcelona boss to brutally ditch Grealish from the team.

Jack Grealish's struggles with Man City

Man City showed huge faith in the English attacker when they smashed their transfer record to pay a whopping £100m to sign him from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021.

Given the money spent to prise him from Villa Park, the 28-year-old winger has endured an underwhelming time on the pitch with the Cityzens so far.

He has racked up 14 goals and 18 assists in 125 matches for the club in all competitions over the last three seasons combined, and has not hit double figures for goals or assists in any of his Premier League campaigns.

As you can see in the table above, Grealish is coming off the back of a disappointing year in the top-flight with the Cityzens, having been directly involved in just four goals in 20 appearances in the division.

He ranked within the bottom 24% of attacking midfielders and wingers in the Premier League for assists per 90 (0.09), which illustrates how poor he has been at creating chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

For £100m, the England international has not provided consistent quality as a scorer or a creator of goals from a left wing or attacking midfield position, which is why Guardiola should be open to allowing him to re-join Villa this summer.

Manchester City's Jack Grealish

His exit would leave the team light in the wide areas, particularly on the left flank, though, and that is why the club should swoop to sign Eze.

The Palace star's arrival would then allow City to brutally ditch Grealish without having to worry about being left short for depth ahead of next season.

What Eberechi Eze could bring to City

Whilst the current Cityzens forward has failed to provide enough quality in the final third in recent seasons, Eze has been in impressive form for the Eagles.

He could come in as a big upgrade on Grealish and offer more as both a scorer and a creator of goals from a left wing or attacking midfield role for Guardiola.

In the Premier League last season, Eze contributed with 11 goals, four assists, and seven 'big chances' created in 27 appearances for the London outfit.

Eberechi Eze celebrates for Crystal Palace

The 26-year-old wizard ranked within the top 13% of attacking midfielders and wingers in the division for non-penalty goals per 90 (0.44) and the top 13% for shot-creating actions per 90 (4.82), which shows that he excels at scoring goals and creating opportunities for his teammates to shoot.

As you can see in the table above, Eze has been directly involved in 29 goals in his last 65 Premier League appearances for Palace over the last two seasons.

He has hit double figures for goals in each of the last two campaigns in the top-flight – a feat Grealish has failed to achieve in any of his seasons with City.

These statistics suggest that the £60m-rated star, who was once described as a "delight to watch" by U23 scout Antonio Mango, could come in and improve Guardiola's squad.

Eze could arrive as an upgrade on Grealish, due to his superior quality in the final third, and add more firepower to the Spanish manager's forward line, which could help them to compete on all fronts.

Therefore, signing the Palace magician would then allow the Premier League champions to send the former Villans captain back to his former club this summer.
